Hot August Nights fills the casino lots with classic cars and the streets with engine noise for a week — you either plan around it or lean all the way in. Late in the month the Burning Man convoys roll through and the airport fills with dust-caked travelers; wildfire smoke is the real wildcard, and some years it dulls the sky for a week.
